Renowned for his artistry and musical leadership, Toufic Maatouk has emerged as a distinguished conductor of his generation. His journey began in 2005 when he assumed the dual roles of Artistic Director and Choir Master of the Antonine University Choir, showcasing his early passion for choral music. In 2012, Maatouk embarked on a significant chapter of his career by taking on the prestigious position of Artistic Director at the acclaimed Beirut Chants Festival in Lebanon, a role that marked the commencement of his impactful tenure.
After refining his conducting technique under the mentorship of Ennio Nicotra and Donato Renzetti, Maatouk continued to expand his musical horizons, making significant contributions as a Guest Conductor with the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra since 2013 and with the Romanian Radio Orchestra since 2017, solidifying his stature in the realm of orchestral conducting. Throughout his career, Maatouk’s unwavering dedication to musical excellence has not gone unnoticed, leading to key leadership appointments such as Programming Executive Manager and Deputy Executive Director at the Abu Dhabi Festival and the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts foundation in the United Arab Emirates. He also assumed the position of Head of Academy at the Saudi Music Hubs in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Academic Board at the Global Leaders Institute in Washington D.C.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the arts, Maatouk has received prestigious honors and distinctions. Notably, in 2020, he was knighted as “Cavaliere dell’Ordine Della Stella d’Italia” by the President of the Italian Republic. Subsequently, in 2023, the French Ministry of Culture bestowed upon him the title of “Chevalier des arts et des lettres,” highlighting his significant impact on the cultural landscape.
