BIO
Silvio Viegas é atualmente o Maestro Principal da Orquestra Provincial de Santa Fé, na Argentina, e professor de regência na Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, no Brasil.
Foi Maestro Titular da Orquestra Sinfônica de Minas Gerais até o final de 2022 e, de 2008 a 2015, foi Maestro Titular da Orquestra Sinfônica do Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro. Também foi Professor Titular de Regência na Escola de Música da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais por mais de 15 anos.
Além disso, atuou como Diretor Artístico da Fundação Clóvis Salgado – Palácio das Artes de Belo Horizonte de 2003 a 2005, e como Diretor Artístico Interino do Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro de 2011 a 2012.
Ao longo de sua carreira, ganhou reconhecimento por seu trabalho na área operística, dirigindo produções como "O Holandês Voador", "L'Italiana in Algeri", "O Barbeiro de Sevilha", "As Bodas de Fígaro", "A Flauta Mágica", "La Bohème", "Tosca", "Carmen", "Cavalleria Rusticana", "I Pagliacci", "Nabucco", "Il Trovatore", "La Traviata", “Falstaff”, “Otello”, “Il Guarany”, “Romeu e Julieta”, “Lucia di Lammermoor”, “Norma”, “Porgy and Bess”, “Salomé”, “Aleijadinho”, entre outros.
Nomeado como o melhor maestro de ópera em 2017, ele regeu como convidado orquestras como a Orquestra da Arena de Verona, a Orquestra Sinfônica de Roma, a Orquestra Sinfônica de Burgas (Bulgária), a Orquestra Sinfônica do Festival de Szeged (Hungria), a Orquestra do Algarve (Portugal), a Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira (OSB), o Coro e a Orquestra de Estábulos do Teatro Colón, o Teatro Argentino de La Plata (Argentina), a Filarmônica do Amazonas, a Orquestra Sinfônica da Petrobras, a Orquestra Sinfônica do Paraná, a Orquestra Sinfônica do Theatro São Pedro - SP, a Orquestra do Teatro da Paz, a Orquestra Sinfônica do Teatro Nacional Cláudio Santoro, entre outras.
Em 2001, conquistou o primeiro lugar no Concurso Nacional “Jovens Regentes” organizado pela Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira no Rio de Janeiro.
Natural de Belo Horizonte, Silvio Viegas estudou regência na Itália e é mestre em regência pela Escola de Música da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, onde foi aluno de Oiliam Lanna, Sergio Magnani e Roberto Duarte.

"At the forefront of it all, the sensitive, competent, engaged, and inspired baton of SILVIO VIEGAS, who increasingly establishes himself in our musical environment as a most eminent orchestra conductor. With him, there was everything that is indispensable for IL TROVATORE: highly effective tempos and pauses, unwritten ritardandos and accelerandos with excellent results, valuing of certain sonorities (the brass right at the beginning, the woodwinds of utmost good taste at the beginning of the fourth act, the trumpets in "PER ME ORA FATALE," the succession of chords before MADRE, NON DORMI in the fourth act).
