Deborah Bulgarelli won First Prize at the Linus Lerner International Singing Competition and was also awarded at the 5th and 6th Young Soloists Competitions of the Minas Gerais Symphony Orchestra, performing in the winners’ concerts under the baton of Roberto Tibiriçá and Silvio Viegas. In addition, she received the “Best Opera Performer of Carlos Gomes” award at the Carlos Gomes Competition.
She has portrayed leading roles such as Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly (Puccini), the Countess Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Dido in Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), and Angelica in Suor Angelica (Puccini). Other roles include La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi, Ottavia in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Gertrud in Hänsel und Gretel, Florence Pike in Albert Herring, Miss Todd in The Old Maid and the Thief, and Marguerita in the world premiere of Il Noce di Benevento by Italian composer Giuseppe Balducci.
In 2022, after moving to Ireland, she made her European debut in the title role of The Hag of Loughrask by Fiona Linnane. Since then, she has been an active collaborator with Opera Workshop Limerick, directed by Shirley Keane, and performs regularly in concerts at the Limerick Opera Festival. Her artistic career spans Dublin, London, Berlin, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, and Porto Alegre, where she has had the privilege of working with mentors such as Annalisa Monticelli, Caroline Dowdle, Maestro Francesco Rosa, Tim Ribchester, and Raminta Lampsatis.
Deborah holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music – Vocal Performance from the State University of Minas Gerais and has also studied under Eiko Senda. She was a member of the Opera Academy of Theatro São Pedro (São Paulo), where she performed in concerts, recitals, and operas under the direction of André dos Santos and Luiz Fernando Malheiro.
